Here you thought, I was going to write about a “Black Tent of Arabian Desert aka beit al-sha’r.
Many hunters as they get older like more comforts than a tent to spend a week or more while hunting in the elements. In the Pacific Northwest, there are more base camps that will use a Recreational Vehicle or better known as an RV. I remember a long time ago, I had a hunter come into the Burns Brothers Sportsmen’s Center and tell me he and buddies rented a big diesel pusher to go hunting in Colorado, Wow, was what I said as he was leaving with hunting supplies. Now that was back in 1984… A great deal has changed and more and more are using RV’s all year long. Think about being able to take a shower when get back from chasing deer during archery season. It is all about scent, right?
The following video and a slide presentation is the first of it kind in the RV world. Using a camera such as Google Earth uses, this video is possible.
And of course Happy New Year. I have the privilege to have my 8 year old granddaughter Addison celebrating Christmas with us for the past 8 years.
May the New Year be great for all!
Another year has gone by and what an exciting year it has been at B Young RV. The company still wants to expand into Washington. Finding build able land has been a problem, it seems all the land that has been looked doesn’t meet code to the environment… So with the plans to expand, so have the product lines, especially with motorize.
(Cabinets like a high end diesel pusher) and the Winnebago Navion B+ Sprinter motorhome in our lineup. As for 5th Wheel products we have the all new Vanleigh RV – Vilano product line. The company is headed up by Bob Tiffin, Van Tiffin and his son Leigh Tiffin, having many of the great Tiffin features plus the company values that we have known for more than 44 years.
I find it amazing with the growth of the company in just 8 years. Bruce Young, I find to be a visionary and living the dream allowing his team to prosper and be part of the whole business… The company is ever growing and improving Customer Service and Community Service.
A on a funny note about improving, for 7 years we have had an area on the south lot, when it rains we have a pond and mud hole when it shrinks up. Well today 12/22/2016 we no longer have that obstacle on the south lot.
I want to thank all the customers of B Young RV, which have bought from me and the dealership. I also thank the customers that did come in and even if we did not sell to you that you are always welcome at B Young RV.
As for myself I have gone to a 4 day a week position and still in sales. I am fortunate that management has allowed this. Since my last newsletter we have acquired two Top Management Leaders for the Sales Team. Bill & David are two highly talent men that make it easy for our customers and B Young RV to put a buying experience together.
I thought I would leave you all with a little video of a Cougar. This video was take in the summer of 2103, since then more have moved in to this rural area, just outside the city limits of Molalla, Oregon.FR
What a great time to be in the RV business, seeing so many RV’s on the road and in the RV Parks! Now in 7th year with B Young RV, it only gets better. B Young RV has now move into being in the 10 Ten in the North America in the sales of Tiffin Motorhomes.
The company has expanded with a distribution center in another location. Inbound RV’s will go there first to get a Preliminary Pre-Delivery Inspection and any minor repairs that are needed from the travel time from the factories. We also have extra storage at the location that only has only technicians working there. A very important expansion as we do not have enough space at our main location for all the RV’s we have in inventory. We also have a full RV Body Repair and Paint facility at the location. Here at B Young RV, we are the RV Dealer to get all your needs taken care of.
Just after our June Expo show the wife and I hit the road with the intention to traveling into California along Hwy 101, I wanted to do photo ops on Roosevelt Elk. We headed down I-5 with the first stop being Seven Feathers RV Resort, spending a night and the next morning hitting Mac’s Diner in Shady Cove, Oregon, ordering the best Country Fried Steak, Eggs over medium and hash browns in the state.
Well plans changed and the wife asked me if I wanted to go to eastern Oregon and do some scouting… It does not take me more than 5 seconds to say are you sure about this and yes was my answer! So off we head towards the east, with the first stop at Collier State Park, capturing the last spot there. With not real direction and letting the motorhome take to where ever, we many side trips and even into the Owyhee’s in search of Pronghorns and Mule deer.
We stayed a couple nights that Crane Crystal Crane Hot Springs RV Park. The weather turned from warm sunny days to snow and freezing weather. As we did not have a set course to take, we headed back towards Seven Feathers RV Park, with it being full, though I know the management there; we were out of luck… Off the cuff, we did find another park after hitting the Oregon Coast at Bandon, Oregon. Just a note, the Oregon State Parks were full, my suggestion with the Oregon State Parks, is to use Reserve America and get your spot reserved. We stayed at Bandon by the Sea RV Park, a small RV Park that does have permanent residents and allows weary travelers to stay. It is very clean park to stay at. I was very fortunate that Bruce Young, allowed me to take the extended two weeks during the summer… P.S. We did go into California and saw Elk, in a spot that I have seen them every time we go that way. Interesting that we went through the Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. Hmm! Big and Dry Camping only. No one on the west coast beats Oregon State Parks…
Since my last RV Newsletter, B Young RV has added some new product lines to our inventory with Winnebago Travel Trailers (Micro Minnie – Hot small trailer) and Thor Class A motorhomes (Windsport) and Class C motorhomes (Quantum). The highly styled Dynamax Istata 3 Class B+ has been a top seller with it options and just overall great appearance.
Our lineup of Little Guy teardrop style T@B’s, T@G’s, T@G XL’s and regular Little Guys do not hang around very long. What a phenomena of who are buying these vintage perspective of the mind… It is simply amazing how many are sold and the fact we run out at a moment’s notice!
Recently, such as July 7th, we had a visit from Bob Tiffin, the owner of Tiffin Motorhomes. A man that believes in his company and the family he gains with customers that buy Tiffin. It is all about service and a long time relationship. It was very enlightening to have a round table discussion with Bob in the 36UA Bunkhouse Allegro Open Road motorhome, a number of us were able to make a few suggestions. Bob, pulled out folded over paper and made notes of the comments. Rest assured when he gets back to Red Bay, Alabama, he will review and make some small changes… Bob brought up the new Phaeton 44OH on the Powerglide Chassis and how it will be the new change in how RV’s will be built. The Phaeton 44OH has a flat floor throughout the motorhome. It is all about how the floor is built and how the walls are set. Come by B Young RV and learn all about it if you are interested why Tiffin leads the way!
Interesting thing about RV’s, they all have one thing in common to me, and that is to use to escape from the daily grind and the cluster of life. So, many like to hunt, fish, hike, explore unknown places and even venture to where just maybe no one has ever stepped foot before, so I am going to give you all a link to onXmaps HUNT. Just touch the following logo and let your mind take it all in. The product can be used on mobile devices, Garmin GPS’s (handheld or vehicle). It is not all about HUNT, but that is where it started, but it is an adventurer into the mountains, desert, beach, and life.
Well… We’re into autumn, but it seems more like summer around Oregon. Can you believe the other day while down the Oregon Coast, it was 75 degrees in the last days of September? With my new work schedule it, we are able to venture further on my days off and even made it down to Bandon, Oregon. Soon the Cranberry harvest will be going on in the southern Oregon coast. The Cranberry Festival has already been held in August, as the tourists from around the country have been in Oregon on vacation. Guess they must have had frozen berries leftover from last year…
What a year it has been at B Young RV and for the RV Industry as a whole. We see record months in sales of all kinds of RV’s at B Young RV. Tiffin Motorhomes have been leading the way as Number 1 in Class A motorhomes. In the Class B+, there has been a great increase in the sales of Prisms’ which are on the Sprinter (Mercedes Benz) chassis. Of course the Coachmen Freelander and Leprechaun Class C’s have been rolling out the door, as well. I see that Coachmen are innovating new features within model years. They are always improving their product lines.
In the 5th wheel lineup, the flagship for Thor is the Redwood and we are extremely pleased with the Redwood. The Redwood is full residential – luxury 5th wheel that is designed for fulltime living, with a residential feeling in every aspect. Grand Design products, both in travel trailers and 5th wheels have been the hot product for 2015 and I can see them leading the category in the future. I do love my motorhome, but I would own a Reflection or Solitude!
Now that my schedule has changed to a 4 day work week we have been covering a great deal of highway and backroads on my days off. Always having a camera on the ready on the dash, I have been able to capture some amazing photo of wildlife and birds. On the bird scene catching Blue Herons or Great Egrets while taking off seems to be my goal. They are very weary birds, not always allowing the stalk to be close. I have a couple of new parks that we have stayed at since the Oregon State Parks this summer and going into fall have been full. The last few weeks on the Oregon coast from Newport, Oregon and down to Bandon, our neighbors from down south have taken over the Oregon State Parks. The Salmon are running, so the Californians are here in full force to fish for Salmon in the bays and rivers. I have had customers talk about Sea & Sand at Lincoln Beach, so finally we have stayed there twice. This is very clean, nice and peaceful park, with the beach in walking distance and super ocean view on the top side.
For those that have watched the Food Channel with Guy Fieri, there are a number of restaurants he has recommended in Oregon. The one that we just had to find was in Eugene by the name of Papa’s Soul Food Kitchen. We had to wait for it to open and I made sure I was at the head of the line some 45 minutes before it opened. The line was long and the food was a 10+ with great helpings and great price. I could see why they have a strong customer base, the service was far greater than I expected…
I hope that everyone who has an RV has been enjoying the experiences that I have been enjoying. The RV, no matter what style, is an avenue to escape the daily grind of life. You can see so much of our great Nation while using an RV. For those of you that have yet to experience the pleasure of owning an RV, don’t wait until any longer, you want to enjoy it to the fullest! If you have children, or even grandchildren, owning an RV would give them their greatest adventure in life to be RVing with YOU! This I know as my granddaughter, who is 7, asks every week when are we going to the Beach!
It has been a blast to work for Bruce (the B in the Young) for 6 years selling RV’s to happy customers! I look forward to the future at B Young RV!
For those that like to venture into the forest, desert, mountains for fishing, rock hounding, hunting or even hiking, you should consider having mapping that will let you know if you can be on the land your on. Do not rely on paper maps or even a general programmed GPS…
If you have forgotten, please remember that folks that have bought their RV’s from B Young RV are part of the Priority RV Network, which includes discounts in the Stores and being a priority customer while on the open road at other Priority RV Dealerships. Another thing you are invited to get a FREE Insurance Quote, one way to see if your insurance company is competitive on pricing. There is an APP for IPADS and SMART PHONES FREE.
One last item of the Newsletter: I highly recommend a product calledXZILON (Molecular Adhesion). If your RV is in very good condition outside with good decals, paint and could be 6 Months to 2-3 Years, you need to do this for the long haul. I do have it on my motorhome and you can tell the difference when washing it right off the bat, bugs don’t stick like glue. The product is us by Boeing on their aircraft for a number of reasons, 1) better coefficient, 2) protect the outside of the plane and engines and lastly, much easier to clean.
I would suggest that you contact Juan or Chet at B Young RV @ 503-305-8685!
Fall has finally arrived with the change in the weather, yet I feel we will still have some great weather ahead of us going into winter. It has been a great year here at B Young RV with a recorded number of customers buying RV’s of all types. As I finish this up today on Sunday it now 75 degrees out!
Here at B Young RV the lot is stuffed with RV’s! Yet, every time an RV leaves, it is replaced with another. October appears to be a banner record month at the dealership. Remember Rving in the N.W. can be year round!
Recently B Young RV brought on the Forest River Dynamaxmotorhome line and we have at this moment the Big Bad Boy 37RB Super C that can tow 20,000lbs, WOW! Soon we will have the small B Van from Dynamax called the REVon the RAM PROMASTER. This will really round out the motorhome selection here, since we have theCoachmen Prism in smaller size motorhomes. At B Young RV we have an RV for everyone’s needs to have fun!
Just around the corner the Portland Metro RV Fall Show will begin and what a show it will be. I welcome you all to come by our display which will be a whole hall at the show. It will be the largest display that B Young RV will have ever had. There will be some special events going on at the B Young RV display. If you don’t get there you will miss your chance. Sorry the events are Top Secret!
I got a place for customers that live in the Metro Area or those that might want a destination RV Park or just an overnighter. Recently the wife and I have made an overnight escape (Saturday after work until Sunday morning before work) to Silverton, Oregon, about a 1 hour drive from our home in Oregon City. Silverton is quite the small town community, seems almost every weekend there is some going on and a fun place to walk the streets. The name of the Park is Silver Spur RV Park, just a couple of minutes down the road from downtown Silverton. It is very reasonable on price and they have a nice store and other amenities for their customers.
There is an experience that all future Tiffin owners might consider when they are ordering their new 2015 Tiffin motorhome from B Young RVis to go to the factory during the building of the motorhome. One of our customers and a friend of mine Russ Holt did just that on his and his lovely wife Pam’s 2015 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 31SA. Russ document the process via pictures and when the motorhome was heading to the state of the arc Tiffin Paint Facility, Russ was asked if he want to drive HIS motorhome there! Oh! Of course he did! Now if you ever need an expert with RC (Radio Control) Products – Models, go to Coyote Hobby Inc. Always a friendly face and if Russ (503) 656-2172 is not there, ask for Levi! They are located in old town Oregon City on Main Street, just like Main Street U.S.A. Now only to get Russ & Pam into going back and seeing their future Phaeton being built!
Speaking of Tiffin RV, recently we received the all new floorplan in the Open Road. The 32SA floorplan features a King Bed, a similar floorplan to the already popular 31SA. The new upgrades in 2015 model year of Tiffin are outstanding.
Another new floorplan that recently arrived is the all new 380TH Momentum 5thwheel toyhauler from Grand Design RV. Wow, is all I got to say to the new upgrades and styling of the 380TH. Anyone interested in a 5th wheel toy hauler needs to come by and go through the Momentum! I almost forgot about the New Floorplan in the Reflection 5th wheel line-up from Grand Design also! That would be the all new 2015 Reflection 317RST. Oh! My! New lighting, great floorplan with styling and think about a 1 pc molded shower enclosure with sliding shower doors! 317 RST Reflection
If there is anyone that doesn’t think that the RV business or that no one is really into RVing, then they need to try and get a spot at an Oregon State Park, let’s say even after the kids went back to school in September! In the middle of the September on a weekend off in the middle of the week, we hit Devil’s Lake State Park on a Wednesday evening and just happen to get the last spot (the water hole site). So the next day head south towards Bandon, Oregon thinking no problem in getting a spot at one of the State Parks in the region. Well that did not work and to my surprise The Mill Casino at Coos Bay was booked on a Thursday. Well now, drive back to Devils Lake and see what happens? We kept driving south and just happen to find an overpriced and over grown KOA near Port Orford with gravel pull troughs. No Discounts!
For golfers’ that want a very nice RV Campground with a tough course to play, then you need to check out Mallard Creek Golf Course and RV Resort outside of Lebanon, Oregon. It is pretty nice to have a golf cart delivered to your campsite. Another very reasonable RV Park in the State of Oregon. They can handle any size of RV in the park. The Front & Back Nine can be very challenging with the amount of water around. I have played the back 9 a number of times (first one off the box always). I like solitude when playing golf if I don’t have a friend playing! Being about 1 ½ from Portland, it can be another escape park for a couple of days out in the country.
Wildlife Photo of the Month

Well summer 2014 is about to start soon and I am ready for the Sun in the N.W.
As I start to write this newsletter, we are down at Seventh Feathers RV Resort south of Roseburg, Oregon and it is raining fairly heavy. As my granddaughter Addison would say at 6 years old it is raining dogs and cats, plus buckets of water with snails. Yes snails, when it is warm and we have heavy rains it brings the snails out in groves.
2014 has started out with a bang on RV Sales throughout the country and here at B Young RV the increases from 2013 are tremendous, thanks to all the referrals that we get. Seems all categories of RV’s are selling at B Young RV and other dealers around the country. Guess the Baby Boomers want to hit the road and those that are still working with families are finding that spending time in the outdoor environment with the whole family to be an adventurer! It is interesting though how many people are selling their homes and with some of the equity hitting the roads in an RV for a while, then settle in a tax friendly state. I find it is like being off the Grid a bit and not having to take care of your yard anymore, pay property taxes, plus you can leave at any time to a new playground in your RV.
While down at Seventh Feathers RV Resort (p.s. I don’t gamble) I have had the privilege to play golf a couple of times out at the Myrtle Creek Golf Course. The first time I only had a couple of old Walter Hagen 6 & 8 irons (probably about 75 years old, given to me by my grandfather in 1967) in the back of the motorhome with a putter. I was able to borrow a driver with trust that I would return it after play. What a great time, I have now learned that I need to carry my regular clubs with me at all times. What amazed me was the amount of Turkeys and Deer running around on the challenging course. It was before Turkey season started in Oregon and the Toms were out strutting everywhere on the course!
Yes! They stopped play as I had to take a video of the birds working the green:
The second time down at Seventh Feathers RV Resort I had my clubs and played well in the wind, rain, sun and hail at Myrtle Creek Golf Course. The course held up great and was a blast to play and being able to work the Par 3’s with more than one ball. I had the course to myself into the late afternoon! The Course GM and the Course PGA Pro are really great guys and the atmosphere is very homely and open. The Marshall was a hoot and warned me I should go up a club on the Elevated Tee box Par 3 13th Hole, as the wind will catch the ball. Two times I did it my way and put the ball into the sand trap (2’ apart) at the edge of the green, the next shot I took his advice and put it on the green. “I told you so” Ok! Enough Golf, go and have fun there though.
You can even get a great hot dog or hamburger at the diner!
Made a trip into California this spring also and found a really nice campground to stay in with friendly staff along the Northern California Coastline at Benbow KOA! It was great to find that particular campground late into the evening. Checked out other campgrounds, but felt uncomfortable, seems many of the old campgrounds in the Redwoods have lived on from the old days (60’s and 70’s) with little upkeep. There is a great deal of remoteness in the area and sometimes I think I had gone back in time to when I was a kid… Maybe a some paint and trimming of trees would have help change the atmosphere of RV Parks in the Redwoods!
A couple of our Tiffin Customers Russ and Pam will be heading to RED BAY, Alabama to see their Tiffin being built in July after the holidays. The welcome mat has been put out for them to have a memorable experience! Russ will be sending me a series of pictures on the build and I can’t wait to see how it is done from the customer’s view. Russ I think will be assisting in the production… I have a couple of restaurants down in Bandon, that everyone that heads down the way might enjoy to eat. Always 1st cabin food and I have given you pictures so you can remember the buildings along the wharf in Bandon.
There is plenty of parking and time to enjoy either of the restaurants on the Wharf at Bandon, Oregon
A new addition to B Young RV inventory is the Rubicon, a pull behind Toy Hauler, a great looking Toy Hauler at a great value. Now is the time to get great deals on all Toy Haulers at B Young RV. The “B” in the Young has order more inventory and we need to move the 2014’s out!
As we say at B YOUNG RV:
“Come Shopping Today and You Can Be Camping Tomorrow”
Well Spring is almost here and so is daylight saving, about time here in the Pacific N.W. for me.
Getting started we open the New Year with no snow and plenty of RV Sales here at B Young RV. I know I said no snow, but that has come and gone in February. In the old days I loved the snow and I loved to head to the hills and play in places like Steen’s Mts. or the BLM east of Madras, Oregon to play in the snow or chase exotics.
Today has been a moving day for the company for the upcoming PORTLAND METRO DEALERS 56th RV SHOW, which starts March 5th and goes through to March 9th. The company has been able to get in and setup before any other dealer. Makes life easier for the set-up crew! Hoorah!
B YOUNG RV will be taking up HALL- A at the EXPO, which was the main HALL at EXPO SHOWS. I had the privilege to take out a Tiffin Allegro RED 33AA Diesel Pusher today. I have to say that I am glad I don’t have to arraign some 70+ RV’s in the building. Today the B in the B YOUNG, Jack Phelps and Jimmy G are doing all the work. Oh! There are the drivers also, which all sales staff did drive out a Class A Motorhome!
I would like to say that I have had our motorhome out in the winter, but only had one chance in December to do so. In the meantime I have had it protected at Luxury Vehicle Care in Milwaukie, Oregon. It is great feeling to know that my RV is stored inside in a secure facility. I have notice that a great deal of B Young RV’s customers also usesLuxury Vehicle Care to store their RV’s.
Little Guy has come out with another Teardrop called the T @ G, which has nicer features over the regular Teardrop. I have a rancher that is heading out into the S.W. part of the U.S. and taking his T @ G out and pulling it behind a 2012 Porsche 911 AWD. I will put pictures of the setup in my next newsletter.
Tulips are about to come out, so RV’s are about come out and head to the parks in Oregon and elsewhere in the U.S.A. I know in December I was surprised how many people were camping on the Oregon Coast. Yes it was easy to get a spot during the weekend trip, but folks were enjoying the good weather on the coast.
Now if you happen to be in Newport, Oregon, I would suggest eating at the Newport Café, my good friend Michael Blakely tells me it is the place to eat. I will eat there the next time I am in Newport. You do have to love their webpage!
I truly wish everyone that reads this, A Very Merry Christmasand Happy New Year. I do hope that the Holidays are great with the gathering of family and friends. May the New Year bring prosperity to this great Nation and those that support Her!
2013 Has been a great year for B Young RV and the employees’ of our company that will start it’s 5 year in business. I have been blessed to work for B Young RV from the first couple of months of being of being open. It is great to work for a company that truly cares about their employees, for the second year in a row Bruce Young and his business partner Mark Bretz have given to every employee with profit sharing checks at a time of the year that everyone can use it. It is blessing to all that receive that never expected it!
The November 2013 Metro RV Show was an outstanding show with the selling of every Tiffin Allegro Open Road Motorhome. I would have to say it was a wild time at the show. One of my new customers came to the show while heading out of town to Montana. They just had to see and touch the new Tiffin Open Road 36LA they had heard so much about. Words as they were leaving “we will be back, we are buying that coach.” They did come back the following week and buy a Tiffin Allegro Open Road 36LA like we had at the show in Maroon Coral exterior, though they had to do a factory order. The Tiffin Allegro Bus 45LP, didn’t last long either at the show, as neighbors’ to the north of CONUS came to the show and bought it… I can only say it was a recorded show for B YOUNG RV!
If I haven’t said it before, it is true that everyone can camp year round in Oregon. RVing is a year round event in Oregon. Do you remember how the weather was in Portland Metro area of Oregon during Thanksgiving this year? Well we pulled our motorhome out of storage at Portland Luxury RV & Boat Storage in Milwaukie, Oregon on the Monday before Thanksgiving. I had told PLRB, that I would not be using it until January! “Hmm!” Dawn said to me at PLRB! Head out on Tuesday in the Heavy Fog on I-5. We took the cutoff to Drain and Reedsport with the fog trying to lift in the coastal mountains, once we hit the turn off to Loon Lake on the Umpqua Highway the blue sky emerged. From what I understand the fog never lifted in Portland during the time we were gone. The weather was great and the temperature was around 50-55 degrees on the Oregon Coast. Fish & Chips at Bedrocks on the wharf at Winchester Bay, Oregon and the cook did disclose where he had harvest the nice Roosevelt Bull that hangs in hangs in the back dining area. . . Classified!
Remember that you are family and can stop by anytime! Coffee, Cookie and RV’s Always!
